Nepal
In late February of 2020, three weeks before the Coronavirus struck the United States and brought everything and everyone to a standstill, Jeffrey, six of our buddies and I met in Katmandu and traveled south from the Himalayan Mountains into the lowland jungle plains bordering India.
There, in Chitwan National Park, on the Indian sub-continent with our guides and our cameras, we were able to observe endangered one-horned rhinos and Asian elephants, the critically endangered gharial crocodile, along with sloth bears, gray langur monkeys, and a multitude of birds—the crescent serpent eagle, common hoopoe, bee eaters, greater hornbills and more.
One evening the guides invited me to help ‘bathe the elephants’ where indeed I became the bathed, not the bather!
