The Pantanal
Set in the Southwestern region of Brazil, the Pantanal is the world’s largest freshwater wetland. Sometimes referred to as the Serengeti of the Americas, the Pantanal is where one hopes to see Jaguar, Giant Otter, Giant Anteater, Capybaras, Tapir and more bird species than one can imagine. We saw over 120 bird species, only a smattering included here-- Hyacinth Macaws, Chestnut-eared Aracaris, Toucans, Parrots and Parakeets, Kingfishers, Herons, Troupials, Hawks, Skimmers… And of course we observed the little things too, like this leaf cutter ant. A nature nut’s paradise.
